Home away from home...

Ever been to the Hearst Castle? Me either, however, I do know a bit about it. My late husband vacationed in Carmel one summer, and toured the Castle. It's a whopping 90,000 sq. feet, with 56 bedrooms, 61 bathrooms, 19 sitting rooms and 127 acres of gardens. It was once home to William Randolph Hearst, and an array of exotic animals, becoming the largest private zoo. I've studied up on the Hearsts over the years... the whole family seemed quite fucked up, and obviously money hungry. Even with some charitable acts from WRH, I tend to believe that he was a crooked businessman, as were all of the earlier newspaper execs. Any story, whether factual or exaggerated was a story to publish, as long as there were readers to keep it rolling. Anyhoo, imagine if these wall could talk. There were some wild times here!
