WTF is wrong with this?

The son of my coworker, who happens to be 20, is in a jam. When he was 19, his highschool girlfriend was 15. The two had sex (more than once) and her parents found out... they blew a gasket, like many parents would. They called the police to spite their daughter, and to teach her a lesson. After awhile, they decided they weren't going to press charges. However, the state had different ideas. The state arrested him and charged him with having sex with a minor. His lawyers tried for a misdemeanor, but the DA disagreed. They went for a felony, and now this boy faces a minimum of one year in prison and will be considered a sex offender for the rest of his life. He is a hard working, educated, tax paying citizen and a definite asset to the community. When the world hears 'sex offender' we automatically think pedophile. This is not fair. These kids at 13, 14 and 15 years old, are quite aware of sex and what they like. I could see if the guy was in his late 20's and she was 15... but these were highschool sweethearts. When I was 13 I was sexually active. By 16 (able to drive) I was stalking the gay bars and the bookstores and getting laid by men over 18! I knew what I was doing! On top of that, recently, a child molesting sex offender was released from jail and placed back into the home that he had violated many children. The house, a few minutes from the middle school, and across the street from my friend and her family. WTF? I think the laws need to be re-evaluated, as well as society's views in general. The girls nowadays dress like they are adults, with their skimpy tops and shorts, heeled shoes, make-up, hair, etc. Looks are deceiving! I went shopping for my 6 year old niece, and there wasn't a pair of shorts that covered her whole ass, nor a shirt that covered her tummy. She is 6!!! Fashion should be to blame for some of this. Oh, I'm so upset and I could go on forever. Does anyone agree here, or am I on my own?
